How to go on Mystery Island Tours in Animal Crossing
One of the most innovative new mechanics in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for the Nintendo Switch can go on unique Mystery Island Tours. These tours allow players to visit random uncharted islands from the airport on their island.
This is a great way to gather new resources or find fabulous new islands separate from your home island, the islands of your friends! Mystery tours are a perfect way to gather more crafting materials like iron nuggets once you’ve depleted your own island’s reserves. Each mystery island will have around four to five iron rocks, so using this mechanic is a great way to get a reliable source of iron.
1 It’s time to hit the skies!
Before embarking on your brand new island adventure, you’ll need to make sure you’ve paid off your initial Deserted Island Getaway Package. This debt to Nook Inc. amounts to 49,800 Bells, but the player can pay off this outstanding balance with a lump sum of 5,000 Nook Miles. These Nook Miles can be earned throughout the game through various activities and travel or a Nook Stop!
Once your debt to Nook Inc has been cleared, you’ll be able to purchase a Nook Miles Ticket for your flight. Your first Nook Miles Ticket will be given to you free of charge, but for the rest, you’ll need to exchange Nook Miles for tickets for your dream vacation.
2 What Islands to Expect
The islands you’ll be visiting through Mystery Islands Tours are randomized but based on distinct templates. All islands will include beach areas on all sides, flowers native to your home island, and native fruit trees. But some unique islands can garner more loot if you’re lucky as some templates are more resource-rich than others. It’s mainly a potluck for how much you’ll get out of your island visit! Templates include:
- Basic Island with Pond:
These simple islands include native fruit trees and hardwood trees, alongside a normal selection of bugs and four rocks. You’re unlikely to encounter any particular fish in the river or ponds.
- Bamboo Island:
Another common island type is the bamboo island. These islands are rich in bamboo trees, a resource that is usually rare on player islands. These islands are generally wholly flat and lack rivers or ponds, making it a great place to farm Scorpions.
- Alternative Fruit Island:
This uncommon island template includes fruit trees are that are non-native to your home island. This island time is perfect for collecting different types of fruit.
- Rare Flower Island:
This rare island type presents the player with an opportunity to collect rare variants of your native flowers while also being a breeding ground for flying bugs like butterflies or moths for some extra Bells!
- Giant Fish Island:
A coveted rare island, the Giant Fish Island is home to large and colossal river fish in its vast central river – perfect for any fish lover.
- Shark Island:
If you’re in the market for a massive Shark, these islands are perfect for you! Spending some time on the coasts of this island will grab you a chance to find ocean sunfish, suckerfish, and beautiful big sharks.
- Money Rock Island:
These uncommon and rare islands can have up to 7 rocks for you to mine, all of which offer some great Bell loot. These islands are also perfect for farming Tarantulas, Scorpions, and Centipedes.
- Gold Nugget Island:
The holy grail of deserted islands, behold Gold Nugget Island. This is a reasonably simple island, but in the center, you can find one rock. Hit it, and you can bag yourself up to 8 golden nuggets! Wow!
